Anthrenus verbasci is cosmopolitan and probably the commonest of all the Dermestids in Israel. In my (town) garden during spring there are probably a dozen insects visiting flowers at any given moment. However, it is extremely variable in colouration and at first I thought I was looking at several different species. Here are two variants reresenting a darker and a lighter form.
