These were brought to me by Dr. Uzi Glazer from Kibbutz Bet Zera in the Jordan valley. I am rearing them on a diet of lettuce leaves and carrot shavings. Normally they stay under a layer of earth at the bottom of the container and will scuttle down into the soil if disturbed. They are considerably smaller than Polyphaga aegyptiaca. The first three abdominal tergites are shiny while the rest are dull.
