Dr. Uzi Glazer of the Ministry of the Environment photographed these ants at Bet Zera in the Jordan valley where they were reported as causing serious bites to humans. They have since been identified as Wasmannia auropunctata a citisen of Central America. A neighbouring plywood factory that imported tropical wooden trunks may have been responsible for this introduction.
