OBJECTIVES

FTIC intends to undertake projects over and beyond the consulting services that fall within its framework of expertise. This will involve the establishment of Research and Development projects in cooperation with, and tailored to the needs of potential clients within the food and feed industries.

The Opportunity

The European Parliament and Council, as part of The Sixth Community Environment Action Programme in 2001, have proposed environmentally friendly farming as a way of achieving the objectives of the program.

At the world summit on Sustainable Development (Johannesburg, Sep 2002), concern for the environment and ongoing loss of biodiversity were major issues. A proposal was put forward to support market-based initiatives for the creation and expansion of environmentally friendly commodities and services, including organic products. This maximizes developmental benefits but tremendous technical assistance is needed, especially in developing countries with strong ambitions to export their commodities to the western world. So far the EU has approved only seven countries (according to article 11/1) for export of organic products, among them Israel (in addition to Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland).

Some food producing counties (Turkey, Poland, Romania, Cyprus etc') are still in the process of quality assurance legislation. The gap between the market requirements and the western countries exports could be minimized through knowledge and implementation of new technologies through FTIC services.

Company Advantages

The main strategic advantages of FTIC are a profound knowledge and experience in technologies which have been developed over the last three decades in the field of post-harvest food and animal feed conservation methods. The awareness of the needs, together with familiarity with potential worldwide customers, provides a great opportunity to create a unique business, with a new market-supporting environment.

The FTIC team is in possession of up-to-date background knowledge combined with a wide experience in a variety of environmentally friendly technologies for conservation of food and feed. The team's expertise in the regulations pertaining to quality assurance and its understanding of the individual needs of the farming communities and the food producing industries provides the backbone to this business organization.
